Dr. Sheets, Vice President of Eye Site of Tampa Bay, is a board certified ophthalmologist. He practices comprehensive ophthalmology having a primary interest in glaucoma and cataract surgery.
Dr. Sheets is fellowship trained in glaucoma, having completed his training at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He did his undergraduate studies at DePauw University in Indiana and received both his medical degree and transitional internship from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he was resident of the year 2005 – 2007.
Dr. Sheets has authored more than 23 book chapters, journal articles, and abstracts; presented his work nationally and internationally; and is an invited Grand Rounds lecturer and speaker at universities, organizations, and hospitals throughout Florida.
Dr. Sheets is considered a regional expert in glaucoma and has many referring ophthalmologists and optometrists in the Tampa Bay area. In addition to taking on the most complicated glaucoma cases, Dr. Sheets prides himself on providing patients individualized, team-oriented care so as to explore every medical or surgical route to success. His expertise also includes advanced refractive cataract surgery, including the use of the femtosecond laser and employing lens technologies including toric, accommodating, and multifocal lenses to reduce patients’ dependence on glasses.
In his personal time, Dr. Sheets enjoys spending time with his family, fishing & boating, attending church, and volunteering for the Rotary Club.
